Xbox controllers accept a tiny flake of "padding" absorber where the trigger makes contact with the underlying plastic. This cushion has worn out and failed on 3 dissimilar controllers I have then far. When this happens, the cushion textile breaks down and the adhesive keeping it place comes in contact with the trigger and causes information technology to stick.

The most frustrating part is that this has happened on a brand new carbon controller I bought a month ago. On my previous two controllers (both Xbox One controllers), this failure happened about a year into employ.

Anyway, yous can use a tool to pry the sides off your controller then remove the failed cushion fabric and swab it downwardly with booze to remove the adhesive. The trouble is now the controller makes hard contact with the plastic when pulled giving it a much harsher feel when using it.

Has anyone this happened to replaced this "cushion" with something else? I've been googling around and establish that some people accept tried only nothing actually works too as the original material.

Oasis't had any problems with my Series 10 controller or One controller (though to be fair I haven't used the latter in nearly a year since my Serial controller has replaced it in all things Xbox or PC controller related). So far the L/R triggers seem to exist working well with no sign of breaking down, knock on wood.

never heard of this kind of outcome, i'm familiar to the drift on early xbox one controllers though

The only outcome I've ever had with Xbox triggers was with my Xbox One controller. One of the triggers made sort of a creaking audio, so I took it autonomously and used some lithium grease to lubricate it. No bug since then.

Aye I'm in the group that's never heard of this. I love my Series controller, I promise it never experiences this.

The closest issue to this was like two or iii weeks after I got a blue Xbox One remote in 2014 a screw belongings something together in one of the triggers got lose and preventing me from engaging the trigger, so I had to take it apart and re-spiral that spiral back into place, but even almost 7 years after the remote still works perfectly fine after I screwed the screw back into identify.

No only I could come across this being more than common if y'all play a lot of racing games where the triggers are often pressed all the mode downward.

The main issue I've experienced is stick migrate but that's every manufacturer now.

Yes, so abrasive.

It goes away after a while only you need to exist careful with it. Pressing too difficult and after a while it will certainly sticks.

In F1 I had to wait for a while to let information technology get back into shape because I was fucking up corners.

This started happening a few weeks ago with 1 of my Serial 10 controllers, just on the right trigger. Thanks for the reminder to see if I can become a warranty replacement. I have merely been using my other ane in the concurrently.

No trigger bug but I've had a bumper pause on one controller and got stick migrate on another (subsequently 3 fucking months). The quality of the Xbox controllers is pretty garbage.

Yeah, so annoying.

Information technology goes away after a while but you need to be careful with it. Pressing also hard and afterwards a while it will certainly sticks.

Yes, when it happens it really sucks for driving games.

Only issue I've ever had with an xbox controller that I can remember was a custom gears one had a shape cutout that was slightly misaligned simply using an exactly knife to cleave out a little more than space fixed the upshot. My day one series X controller is still going strong.
  • #twenty
But event I had with the new Xbox controller was a squeaky trigger for a week. It really sucked, merely resolved itself through usage, I guess.

My elite v2 had this happen. Opened it up and removed them and cleaned the points with some IPA to make the stickiness go away.

But yeah know its got a harsh sound and experience. Really fun when using your short throw adjustments, and are spamming RT in Destiny and your clanmates wonder what the hell that noise is.

Non known of it thankfully. My right trigger on Elite 2 has come up to be slightly 'creakier' in sound, but works fine.

It never happened on many controllers I had and used for hours (launch One, Scorpio, Aristocracy V1, Series X).

But on my Elite V2 it started on the right ane after hundreds of hours of gameplay, then it stopped past itself later on ane week or two, now it happened on the left ane, but stopped too later on two months.

Not a big issue, information technology did non stick that much.

Haven't had a trouble with my triggers before, although I had one Y push button stick on a One controller and my series X controller's B push started sticking the other day.

This happened with my Aristocracy Serial 2 controller. I honey that controller but the problems with it are insurmountable.

This happened non as well long after I got my Elite v2. At least 3-iv month in owning

Edit:

This happened with my Elite Series 2 controller. I love that controller merely the bug with it are insurmountable.

This is exactly why as much as I love the feel and look of the controller, and loving the new Halo themed one -- can't justify the price with the garbage issues/quality control.

My Xbox One X pack-in controller has a correct trigger similar this - at that place'south unintentional resistance and it makes a click/crunch sound whenever I showtime pull the trigger after leaving it lone for some minutes. Thankfully all my other Xbox One and Series controllers have shine trigger pulls.

I had this problem twenty years ago (literally) with my Dreamcast. Haven't had an issue since.

I have worn a trigger spring down on a wired 360 controller from overuse, but I had that equally my main pc controller for well-nigh 7 years.

I basically became a super squeaky and annoying mess to utilise.

I think the just issues I've had with Xbox controllers were the twenty-four hours one edition controllers for the Xbox ane. For whatever reason those sticks were "glutinous" right out the box. Both me and my brother's.

Happened to my Aristocracy Series 2, right trigger. Somewhen fixed it by taking the cushion off and using goo gone. The warranty was fashion by gone anyway at that signal.

My Series S controller behaves similar this since day one. Very annoying when playing Forza.

This has happened to me with ii different Series controllers.
Thankfully, information technology'south also fairly like shooting fish in a barrel to set. I popped the side covers open with a plastic prying tool, and then rubbed the back of the trigger with a swab dabbed in rubbing alcohol. The upshot actually came back a few months later, only I cleaned it again and it was good.

Abrasive.

EDIT: I play a LOT of racing games, and then I'm not surprised it happened to me more than to others.

Same here. I love the controller, but mine is junked becuase I dropped it accidentally and broken the plastic on i of the triggers. This is afterwards sending 2 of them in for warranty. It's a huge disappointment. So much coin for a fragile and defect prone controller.

not the trigger, but my dwelling button keeps stucking on serial ten controller, sick try blowing some pressured air to its side.

Aforementioned here. I love the controller, only mine is junked becuase I dropped it accidentally and cleaved the plastic on ane of the triggers. This is after sending ii of them in for warranty. Information technology's a huge disappointment. So much money for a fragile and defect decumbent controller.
I've.... *ahem* learned my lesson.... as I hate to admit afterwards ownership into the elites 3 times.
My OG aristocracy worked well until information technology'd randomly plough off mid game session. Plainly I grip my controllers hard. Got a replacement shell for it and it stock-still the issue forth with the less problematic simply however very annoying peeling grips.

Hoped the white Elite would be meliorate constructed. Got bad globe-trotting on that one. replaced the analog stick PCB. Been ok since.

And so was VERY excited for the Elite V.2, only the aforementioned sticky trigger, pasty feeling click on the left analog stick, the A push occasionally sticking, or the random wireless disconnects. And now that I picked up it to mess around with. I have the grip peeling on this besides.... Fuckin' yeah.

And my friend has sent his V2 in, I retrieve v-6 times while the controller has been under warranty?

Information technology's really a shame, I'k already way off topic -- just the Series controllers experience SO adept in the hand, clicky d-pad bated -- it's treated me very well forth with the standard X1 controllers. I don't empathise why MS tin't seem to get this correct.

As it stands. Requite me a Serial controller with the heft and the magnetic thumbsticks in the aforementioned old plastic vanquish.

the padding on mine used to move with sequent presses.. at starting time it felt ok, merely in longer sessions, the cream would be pushed sideways and i would get the plasticky click... concluded up exchanging mine for a new unit, without the problem.

Happened on my Elite Series two. Took it apart and glued the pad back on only the right trigger nonetheless makes a sqeeky sound when I apply information technology

Aye, I had to squeeze a pivot down the gap and scrape it out. My RT Button makes a racket now only better than sticking. SX Controller.

Yup. Just dealt with this on me elite serial 2 controller immediately subsequently receiving it back from warranty repair (left bumper not responding)

The left trigger was sticking in the default position causing me to use more than strength to press it which was very distracting.

After a fleck of googling I discovered the issue was that little foam pad. After numerous uses the pad starts shifting eventually sliding off its original position and exposing the glue underneath which causes the sticking.

And then I took the pad autonomously (again) and repositioned the foam pad and cleaned upwards the surrounding area with some isopropyl alcohol.

Seems about 99 percent better now. Hopefully information technology holds upwards long enough or until they come out with a serial 3 with a better build quality.

Yeah, fortunately, I was playing a lot of Forza Horizon when I got my Series Ten a couple months ago, a game like that where y'all are pressing the right trigger a lot will expose this defect very speedily.

I went through 3 controllers until I finally received a working i from Microsoft. This issue is listed as 1 of the reasons for return when using your warranty for return, venture to guess it is a pretty widespread issue just a lot of people may non know they have the consequence if they don't use the triggers a lot. Especially the right side trigger for whatever reason, every bit was the case with me.

Yep, happened to me on my design lab controller. I recall it happens from squeezing triggers too hard. Very easy fix though, took 5 minutes to pop the pieces off and swab it down with rubbing booze.

It happened on my design lab controller for the Xbox One. It felt more like a spring effect though since mine also made a racket. Could be a dissimilar but similar issue. Was able to get it warranted since it occurred within the 90 24-hour interval period but the replacement did the same thing subsequently a few months. Unfortunately it didn't start until the new warranty ran out. Merely information technology comes and goes. Oddly plenty, information technology never happened on any of the regular controllers I purchased. Information technology but happened on the design lab ones. I'g now using a Series controller and have had no issues so far.

This is similar a i minute video with no words, shows simple fix

One cotton ball and like a butter knife

Still, does suck that information technology happens. Just did this to my Series 2 over the weekend
